During a three-day symposium, the Interuniversity Research Group in Limnology (GRIL) gathered 180 people to engage in a collective inquiry about the future of aquatic sciences in Quebec.

The symposium aimed to answer : “How can the GRIL work more deliberately and collectively to push the frontier of aquatic science for the future sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and to train the next generation?” 

Gathering 180 people from a variety of researchers and students to foster meaningful and dynamic collaboration between the ten university partner networks while redefining GRIL’s research axes and programmes.

OUR ROLE

Designing the event and collaboration activities for diverse participants, including students, researchers, and professors.

Supporting the GRIL team in leading and facilitating activities, connecting people from different universities, disciplines, and age groups.

Collecting critical themes and findings to shape the research group’s new vision and subsequent actions.

IMPACT

The event strengthened the bonds between various university partners and defined new research axes for GRIL. The collaborative practices helped to form intergenerational relationships and engage membres in different ways of thinking for a more open and inclusive collective dialogue. The collective activities and participant insights informed the GRIL’s next funding application, focusing on the on-the-ground needs of their members and the future of limnology research.
