Samantha Slade

Samantha has been working in the domain of learning, using technology, for almost 20 years: as R & D advisor for online learning environments, as project coordinator and learning designer for distance learning, as pedagogical consultant for the integration of technology, as teacher, trainer and animator for professional development, adult education and initial education. Samantha defines herself as a “techno-pedagogue”. From 1997 to 2007, working for distance education, Samantha refined techniques for learner-regulated and learner-organised learning. She has been involved in numerous projects enabling the shift to competence based approaches and lifelong learning. She participated in the production of Eportfolios for the learning citizen (pdf, in French) for the Ministry of Education of Québec (2006). Samantha has a M. Sc. in Education in Instructional Design of Online Learning, a Certificate in Community Education, a Graduate Diploma in General Education (teaching permit) and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Samantha maintains her own ePortfolio.

Yves Otis

Yves has a long experience in the design and implementation of information systems - databases, portals, content production, wikis - for academic research projects, NGOs, and educational organisations (literacy, distance education). Trained as a historian, Yves has participated in numerous research project involving large databases. He taught computer science and quantitative methods in history at Univesity of Québec in Montréal and the University of Sherbrooke. Since 1993, he has contributed to different projects of content delivery via Internet. In his role as the development agent for the documentation center for adult education and the status of women (CDEACF) Yves managed the development and implementation of a literacy portal for francophones (Espace Alpha). From 2000 to 2007, he was the new technology advisor at the Société de formation à distance des commissions scolaires du Québec (SOFAD). He is also active in the development, use and promotion of educational standards via the Groupe de travail sur les normes et standards au Québec (GTN-Québec). Always looking for new approaches and new software solutions, Yves uses lean and agile methods and adapts existing open source software for the specific needs of the users.

Together Samantha and Yves have many years of experience in project management of distributed teams. Their complemenatary skills and competences work together for technopedagogy. They especially love to work with people and networks.
